Built for medical escort teams
Valalto arranges airline travel for medical escort companies, nurses, physicians and their patients, and for air ambulance crews flying commercially to position or return home. We are a travel agency, not a medical provider: your clinical team decides what the patient needs, and we handle the travel around it.
POC coordination
Portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) are allowed on many flights, but each operating airline sets its own process. We handle that for every segment, including codeshare and partner flights.
- We confirm the device is FAA-approved or carries the FAA compliance label, and that the airline accepts that model.
- We notify the airline in advance. Many require at least 48 hours' notice, and some ask for more on international flights.
- We remind the team about batteries: airlines typically require enough charge for 150% of the scheduled travel time, including connections and time at the airport.
- We flag when a physician's statement or the airline's own medical form is needed.
Medical clearance and seating
- Many airlines ask the treating physician to complete a Medical Information Form (MEDIF) for clearance. We get the right form to you early, so clearance does not hold up the trip.
- We seat the escort next to the patient and request suitable seats, such as aisle, bulkhead or an extra seat, where the airline allows it.
- We request wheelchair and meet-and-assist service at each airport, including help to and from the aircraft door.
- Where an international airline offers stretcher service, we can request it. This usually needs several days' notice and clearance from the airline's medical desk.
24/7 changes
Discharge times move, and flights get delayed. Our team answers 24/7 and rebooks quickly when the plan changes, whether that means tonight's flight, a different connection, or a new date for the whole team.
Escort logistics, end to end
- Positioning flights for the escort to reach the patient, and the escort's flight home after handover.
- One-way and multi-city itineraries across international routes.
- Hotels near the hospital or airport, and coordination with the ground ambulance or car your team arranges.
- One point of contact for the whole mission, and we share only the details each airline needs.
